Beryl Dennis
Beryl became a trustee of The Leprosy Mission England & Wales in 1996 following an inspirational sabbatical spent working as a volunteer doctor in one of The Leprosy Mission's hospitals in India. She returned in 2000 and 2005 to work as a volunteer doctor. She has been vice-chair of the board of trustees and now serves as chair of the personnel & bursaries committee and sits on the programmes committee. Beryl and her husband began the idea of sponsored bike rides and treks for The Leprosy Mission. They cycled across West Bengal in 2001 on the first Ride for Recovery; raising money for The Leprosy Mission and in 2003 and 2005 took part in the Treks for Treatment in Nepal. Beryl is a doctor by profession, GP and community dermatologist, with a diploma in tropical medicine - so she has always had an interest in and fascination for leprosy as a disease.
