Hastings & St Leonards Autumn Get Together
Saturday 9 October 2010

Hastings & St Leonards is a small branch with a committee of six people and links to ten churches locally. We hold two committee meetings a year, mainly to organise the two "Get Togethers" we hold in the spring & autumn.

These Get Togethers are held on a Saturday morning at either St Leonards Parish Church or Park Road Methodist Church. We are grateful to the leaders of those churches for allowing us use of the premises free of charge and for the helpers who assist on the day. We serve tea, coffee and biscuits for a small donation and have stalls: bric a brac, homemade cakes, books, plants and Christmas cards.

Our Area Co-ordinator, Lisa Lewis attends when she can. This time Ross Browning gave a talk. He referred to the impact of having leprosy in Biblical times, and showed how our Lord Jesus touched and healed these people. Ross went on to explain that leprosy still evokes fear in people. However, leprosy is curable and can be successfully treated with multidrug therapy.

In the past three years we have raised a total of over £8,000 for The Leprosy Mission from individual collecting boxes, Get Togethers, and two music concerts. We feel privileged that we can help in this way.

This time a total of £194.00 was raised towards the work of The Leprosy Mission. Donations from individuals and churches increased this to almost £400. Thanks to everyone who made this a successful morning.
