The Leprosy Mission's Leeds to Skipton Canal Walk of Hope
|
The historic and scenic Leeds-Skipton Canal was the venue once again for our annual Yorkshire Walk of Hope. This year 16 walkers of all ages took part, completing between two and 26 miles along this amazing canal.
The weather was cool and the conditions were pleasant for all our walkers. We are so grateful for their wonderful contribution of time, energy and effort to raise vital funds for the Yorkshire Project, serving leprosy-affected people in the slums of East Delhi.
This year, we thank, in particular, Pauline Davies and her team from Rothwell Baptist Church' Margaret Light and Pauline Beastall from Starbeck in Harrogate and once again, Peter Normandale from Menston Methodist Church (now 84) and his dog Tyrone (96 in doggy years). Peter and "Tye" raised an amazing £180 - that's £30 per leg - what a wonderful effort and achievement.
We have now raised around £1,600 from this most challenging and interesting event. Details for next year's Yorkshire Walk of Hope will be announced early next year. Thank you for your tremendous support once again.
