The Leprosy Mission Rutland Round Walk of Hope 2011
Saturday 9 April 2011
49 walkers represented 16 churches from all over our region to join in the 6 mile Hambleton Peninsula Circuit at Rutland Water on 9 April.
What a fabulous sunny morning for fun, fellowship and...finance, raising over £2,000 to help change peoples' lives at The Leprosy Mission Champa Bethesda Leprosy Home and Hospital in India.
Despite this event being earlier than usual in April, the bluebells were out in profusion.
Fantastic fundraiser Finley Delves, now aged 3 years and 4 months, came along again from Burton Latimer Baptist Church and really enjoyed himself, having a number of 'pit stops' on the way. His dear Nannie, Lilian Brown and her partner, Jim McNeely, accompanied Finley, with various games of football as they circuited the beautiful route along the water's edge.
Congratulations are certainly in order for Lilian and Jim who are getting married on 30 April - such a wonderful day of celebration at Burton Latimer Baptist Church. May God bless you both.
A huge thank you to all our walkers and their sponsors, and to Revd John Ansley and the team at Oakham Methodist Church who always warmly welcome us with light refreshments before we begin our walk.
