| We planned five Retreat Days for 2010 but unfortunately were only able to run two of them. This was a very great shame as these days have proved a real blessing to supporters over the years and a wonderful opportunity to follow the Lord's instruction and 'be still and know that I am God.'
We had five lovely venues planned and extend our sincere thanks to All Saints Church, Kesgrave and Pound Lane Free Church, Isleham for hosting these days and also to All Saints Church, Moulton, The Barn Church, Totham and St Mark's Church, Peterborough who also offered their buildings. We are so very grateful for their generosity and support.
The days we ran began at 10.30 with coffee and very nice refreshments, especially at All Saints, where our representative Christine Tremlett prepared the most amazing food. The days began with half an hour looking into the Bible and focusing our thoughts on Jesus feeding the five thousand. We learned much about Jesus' heart and selfless concern for others. We learned of the value he places on us and his willingness to use us and share his work with us. It was a joy to spend this time 'being still' and seeing new things in a familiar passage. This time of study and reflection was followed by an hour of quietness where everyone went off on their own to think and pray through the passage and see what God was saying them. We were greatly blessed that both churches have lovely buildings lending themselves to quiet reflection and both had beautiful gardens where we could go and sit in peace.
Following the time of quiet we came back together to share what we had thought over and for some what God has spoken into their hearts. We brought our thoughts together by looking briefly at Naaman and his struggles with leprosy and how God had met his need just as Jesus had met the need of the 5,000 going hungry on the hillside.
Talking of hunger, this time was followed by a lovely buffet lunch and a time for informal chatting and fellowship. As Christine reminded us, "it is always good to have a good lunch!"
Following lunch we continued our thoughts on one day in the life of Jesus and focused on the calming of the storm on Lake Galilee and all that showed us about the heart and majesty of Jesus. This was followed by another time of quiet reflection and thought before we concluded the theme by looking at Jesus healing the man with leprosy in Luke 5.
Communion ended a very special day and we extend our thanks to everyone who came and helped make these days so special.
We are not planning any specific Retreat Days next year but if your church or circuit would like us to run one and you can provide a minimum of fifteen people and are willing to make a donation to our work we would be very willing to come along and run one for you. Please contact Mike Griffin for more information.
