One of the best coastal walks in Essex takes us from Walton Pier to Clacton Pier all along the seafront.  The six mile route is very varied from amusements, to miles of beach huts, to open expanses of countryside and golf courses.  We did the walk twice to accommodate everyone who wanted to come and we had a great time of friendship and fellowship.

The weather was kind on both occasions even though we had to remind ourselves it was actually the summer!  The beaches were deserted for much of the walk although the hardy few braved it around Clacton pier where the sun finally came out.  Everyone enjoyed the walk, the ice creams and the picnic. 

The walk back took in the coastal path and the beautiful green swath of Frinton-on-Sea and despite a lovely day everyone was pleased to get back to Walton and a rest (and another ice cream) before the drive home.

It was also good to know that whilst we all enjoyed a day at the seaside we were helping to transform the lives of many people affected by leprosy.  It's great to know that raising support can be such fun!  This has become a regular walk and we hope to repeat it again in a couple of years.
