This was a lovely walk along the banks of the River Great Ouse from Littleport to Ely.  The route is unspoilt countryside with great views over the Fens to Ely Cathedral.  The weather was sunny but not too hot and made for very pleasant walking.  It was a shame that this six mile walk was quite poorly attended and those who came shared our sadness that more had not come both to support the work of The Leprosy Mission and to enjoy a great day out.

The walk passed narrow boats and riverside homes to eventually emerge by a large factory that we thankfully skirted before entering Ely by the river.  Ely is a very picturesque Fenland Cathedral town and it was lovely to have some free time to explore it before catching the train back to Littleport.  The more adventurous decided on such a lovely day to walk back as well!

Even though numbers were low it was a very good day and we're all looking forward to next year and something a little bit different in Cambridge.
