SOUTH WEST AND CHANNEL ISLANDS

The sun was shining and the birds were singing as ten intrepid walkers set off from Hillsford Bridge on the Exmoor Walk of Hope.

We walked down to Watersmeet and along the river valley to Brendon before starting the first of the hill climbs to take us to Malmsmead and our picnic lunch. We were rewarded for our efforts by the glorious views across the picture perfect countryside

After lunch we set out on a series of steep climbs and descents along small lanes back towards Hillsford Bridge. It was a great day filled with good chat, friendly folk and stunning scenery.

Thanks to Simon for organising it, to his family for walking it several times beforehand and to all who took part - either on the day or supporting through sponsorship.

We now look forward to the Dartmoor Walk of Hope and pray that the sun shines for us then too.
