MEDICAL ELECTIVES
If you are a medical or health care student then we may be able to assist you with a placement for your medical elective at one of our centres in India or Nepal.
The elective period will include a minimum of six - eight weeks at the assigned centre, with extra time for travelling at either end.
Qualities:
- Applicants are expected to have empathy with our Christian ethos, with a real interest in working in the mission overseas after training. Applicants should be in agreement with our Mission Statement
- You should be physically and emotionally fit and able to cope with working in a developing country
- Good at working alongside others and able to cope with different cultures and ideas
- Adaptable and resourceful and able to use own initiative and determination
- Students should also be fluent in English
Cost:
- The Leprosy Mission will arrange board and lodging during the placement, however individuals will be required to fund this
- Applications should be submitted six months prior to elective dates
