| Internships overseas
Our internship programme is specifically for people who want to serve God through world mission and who have a qualification in healthcare, development, finance or administration, but have limited work experience. You will have the chance to develop skills and confidence whilst experiencing the immense rewards of working in the mission field.
This innovative programme is designed to encourage and mentor those who long to work overseas and gain experience beyond the scope of our volunteer programme. |

General Information:
- 1 year programme.
- Placements are currently in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Nigeria.
- Must be 21 years old or over.
- Two intakes per year - Completed applications need to be received by
- 31st October to begin in March OR
- 31st May to begin in September

Qualities needed:
- Applicants are expected to be personally committed Christians, with a real interest in working in the mission overseas after training. Applicants should be in agreement with The Leprosy Mission’s vision and values.
- You should be physically and emotionally fit and able to cope with working in a developing country.
- Good at working alongside others and able to cope with different cultures and ideas.
- Adaptable and resourceful and able to use own initiative and determination.
- Fluent in English.
Cost:
- Applicants are required to raise funds for own air fare, insurance and medical costs.
- The Leprosy Mission will be provide board and lodging during the placement.
Preparation:
The Leprosy Mission will provide a comprehensive training programme to address the different experiences, challenges and situations faced when working in a different country. Training will include:
- Adjusting to another culture

- Understanding other religions
|
- Understanding yourself and others
|
|
|
- Language Training (if required)
|
A mentor will be responsible for supporting and encouraging you whilst you are overseas. They will help you adapt to the local culture and lifestyle.
