Challenging opportunities of 2+ years are available for experienced professionals with at least 2-3 years’ post qualification experience. The initial contact is for two years’ service with skills relevant to current needs of field centres, with the opportunity to extend for up to two years if the project requires.  We currently have staff in these countries:

Qualities needed:  

  • Applicants are expected to be personally committed Christians, with a real interest in working in the mission overseas after training. Applicants should be in agreement with The Leprosy Mission’s vision and values.
  •  You should be physically and emotionally fit and able to cope with working in a developing country. 
  • Good at working alongside others and able to cope with different cultures and ideas.  
  • Adaptable and resourceful and able to use own initiative and determination. 
  • Fluent in English.

 

Cost:  

  • The Leprosy Mission provides staff with a living allowance based on the country of assignment,
  • furnished accommodation, work-related travel expenses, medical insurance and pension contributions.

Medical Superintendent/Surgeon – Nepal, STH ASIA

An experienced Surgeon is required to be responsible for all medical issues at Anandaban Hospital, 15km south of Kathmandu city in Nepal and to provide surgical services including reconstructive surgery in leprosy, plastic, hand and orthopaedic surgery.

The Medical Superintendent will also be responsible for developing a training programme within the hospital and medical related administration. You will be a qualified surgeon with experience in orthopaedic or plastic surgery, have proven leadership and communication skills, be fluent in English and willing to learn Nepali.  Experience in working in a developing country would be an advantage. Training on the medical aspects of leprosy will be given.

We will provide a local living allowance, accommodation, flights and insurance.
