FANTASTIC FUNDRAISERS

Cakes, cakes and more cakes!

After hearing about how leprosy affects families and their communities, Evie, Lucy and Faye wanted to do something to help.

'After over four hours of hard work, fun and a kitchen completely covered in icing sugar they had made more than 100 cup cakes and buns. These were then taken to Trinity Baptist Church where members made a donation in exchange for a cake.'        . . . more

Liskeard Methodist 'Bright Sparks'

group of young people spent a Saturday afternoon busily baking and decorating cakes, biscuits and buns and then sold them after church the next day.

This Coffee & Care Get Together was tied in with a visit from Natalie Husk, the SW Area Co-ordinator, to their Bright Sparks group, where they discussed the social discrimination, political injustice and physical problems that people affected by leprosy can suffer.

The Bright Sparks raised over £100!  Thank you so much: the cakes look scrummy!

The children at St Nicholas Church Whiston were hard at work on Sunday 16 January - cleaning shoes! The congregation queued up after the morning service to give the shoe shine boys and girls plenty of dirty shoes and boots to polish. Everyone was delighted with the finished shine they produced and all monies raised will go to support the hospital at Naini which is the chosen recipient of our World Leprosy Day fundraising this year.
Well done children and thank you!

Great Eastern Run - 4 km

9-year-old Alice ran her first ever race on Sunday 10 October in the glorious sunshine in Peterborough.

Excited Alice had been training with her mum at the weekends and also is a member of her school cross country running club. Alice raised over £100 from family and friends to help children affected by leprosy. Alice said the worse bit was that she got a "stitch" and therefore it took her longer than she had hoped!   The best bit was crossing the finish line and getting her first ever medal. Alice hopes to do more races in the future. Thank you Alice for making such a big effort to support The Leprosy Mission.
