“I will bring you home”: Pray for Bankura Home of Love
Abielle Hallas, The Leprosy Mission Great Britain
Join us to reflect on God’s amazing promises of home, and pray for Bankura Home of Love in India.
Where is home to you? Maybe it’s your house, your church, or another special place. Wherever you are thinking of, home is so much more than a building or physical space. It’s where you feel safe and wanted. Where you feel like you belong.
Everyone deserves a home. So it’s heartbreaking that leprosy still rips this safety and belonging away from so many. But thanks to you, there is always hope!
Bankura Home of Love in West Bengal, India, is an oasis of care for elderly and disabled people affected by leprosy. Sustained by your kindness, it’s a place of welcome, healing, and peace.
It’s this welcome, healing, and peace that we find in Jesus. Scripture is full of rich reminders that God will give us a home. Not just a physical space to rest, but a place to belong in Him. It’s a beautiful blessing – one we are all invited to share in, and share with others.
So, as you read just some of the Lord’s homeward promises below, please join us to pray for Bankura Home of Love.
Even to your old age and grey hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. (Isaiah 46:4)
For elderly people with leprosy in India, life can be unimaginably hard. Many have faced decades of heartbreaking rejection. Without social support, others must rely on begging just to survive.
- Please pray that the Lord will meet their daily needs and more. Ask that He will bless them, and pour His provision on them.
- Pray too that Jesus will sustain and comfort elderly people with leprosy when they feel alone. May they know that they are seen and loved.
He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me. (Psalm 18:19 NLT)
Bankura Home of Love is a refuge for people who have lost everything to leprosy. People like Niyoti, pictured below.

Isolated by her neighbours and disabled by the disease, Niyoti thought her life was over. But thanks to you, she was welcomed to Bankura Home of Love nearly 30 years ago. She’s found compassion and care here ever since. More than that, she’s found a family.
“We laugh together and we cry together,” she says. “We understand one another and make each other happy. I have found joy here.”
- Give thanks that people affected by leprosy can know peace and safety at Bankura Home of Love through your compassion. Praise Jesus that Niyoti and the other residents have found joy and a family in each other!
- Please pray for the small but dedicated team that run the home. May Jesus strengthen and encourage them each day.
My people will live in safety, quietly at home. They will be at rest. (Isaiah 32:18 NLT)
For decades, Bankura Home of Love has faithfully cared for those who have nowhere else to go. Niyoti and her friends are so proud of their home, diligently caring for the rooms and garden each day. But with no renovations in many years, this special place now desperately needs repairs.
- Ask that Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides, will bless the work to restore Bankura Home of Love.
- Please pray that together, we can give residents the cheerful and comfortable home they deserve. May Jesus continue to move here, as we show His love and welcome to people affected by leprosy for years to come.
Thank you for your kindness for people affected by leprosy at Bankura Home of Love. Your prayers are an incredible encouragement and comfort. If you feel called to, you can help restore this special refuge by giving here.
