The conflict in Myanmar may have disappeared from our headlines. But it is still devastating lives, and people with leprosy are some of the hardest hit. Here’s how you can pray for Myanmar and our work together there.

Five years of civil war has taken its toll in Myanmar. Airstrikes have killed and injured thousands of civilians. Millions more have been forced to flee their homes.

For people affected by leprosy, life before the conflict was already tough. Since 2021, fighting, economic crisis, and natural disasters have only plunged families deeper into hardship.

Many health clinics are closed. Road blocks and landmines make reaching the few that are open unimaginably dangerous. This means getting leprosy care is virtually impossible. And without fast treatment, the disease is spreading and causing permanent disability.

But God’s light is shining in the darkness. Through your compassion, brave volunteers are finding and curing people affected by leprosy. Dedicated surgeons are bringing vital reconstructive operations to communities that would otherwise be forgotten. Most importantly, people are rediscovering hope.

Pray for Myanmar

Seeing the situation in Myanmar, it can be easy to feel despair. But there is no place where God’s light cannot reach. Even in the darkest situation, we know that His love will break through.

• Please pray for an end to fighting in Myanmar. Ask that Jesus will give compassion to leaders and inspire them to work for peace.
• May Jesus bring hope to all those living in fear. Pray that in His strength, families will be able to rebuild their lives.
• Pray for the church in Myanmar. In the face of conflict and persecution, may the Lord equip them to care for those in need and act for justice.

Pray for people affected by leprosy in Myanmar

In any crisis, people affected by leprosy are some of the first to be forgotten. But not by God, or by you.

• Ask that Jesus will comfort and strengthen people affected by leprosy Myanmar. Through your love, may they know that they are not alone.
• Give thanks that your kindness is enabling people to get the leprosy care they need. Please pray that Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides, will continue to bless this work.
• Please pray for the Myanmar Association of People Affected by Leprosy. May Jesus empower them as they call for greater inclusion and government support.

As you can imagine, working in Myanmar is incredibly challenging. Attacks on clinics and arrests make life especially dangerous for health workers.

• Give thanks that the Leprosy Mission Myanmar team continue to serve people affected by leprosy. Ask that Jesus will give them strength and wisdom.
• Please pray for divine protection for Leprosy Mission medics as they travel to remote communities. May their courage inspire us as we shine out God’s love together.
