I’m Abielle, and I'm part of the fundraising team here at The Leprosy Mission Great Britain. I recently had the privilege of visiting Anandaban Hospital in Nepal. In this blog, I share our prayers for the amazing team and patients.

There are some places that you instantly know are special. The Leprosy Mission’s Anandaban Hospital in Nepal is one of them.

Sustained by your prayers, this hospital has faithfully cared for people affected by leprosy for nearly 70 years. And earlier this year, I got to see this care in action!

After two days of travelling (one bus, three trains, two flights), it was wonderful to meet the hospital team. There might be 7,000 km between where we work, but our hearts are in the same place!

And spending time with leprosy patients was the most incredible privilege. Listening to their stories, laughing with them, and sharing their hopes for the future. Many told me that Anandaban was like a second home to them – and this is all thanks to you.

For all everyone at Anandaban, knowing that you care and pray for them is such an encouragement. So, I would love you to join me in praying for this very special hospital.

You might remember that in 2024, Anandaban was hit by devastating landslides. Staff shared that the impact was worse than the catastrophic 2015 earthquake. Seeing the destruction and hearing staff share their stories, I could only imagine how terrifying that night was!

The landslide was caused by exceptionally heavy rains. June sees the start of monsoon in Nepal, and the dark clouds bring fresh fears to Anandaban. But this is God’s hospital, and the team are determined to continue witnessing to His love no matter what.

• Give thanks for God’s faithfulness to Anandaban in every challenge. Pray that He will continue to protect this special place, especially during the monsoon.
• Pray that the team will continue to trust in God’s steadfastness, as they serve Him and people affected by leprosy.

Many of the patients I met had struggled with the impacts of leprosy for years. The disease had taken so much from them – mobility, independence, livelihoods, community. But thanks to you, they were getting the vital care they needed.

• Praise Jesus that through your love, Anandaban is there for people with leprosy when they need compassion most.
• Please pray that patients will see God’s love in the care they receive. May they know His comfort and peace as they recover.
• Ask that patients will find new hope for the future at Anandaban. May they feel encouraged as they return home, knowing that they carry your prayers with them.

Every day, the team at Anandaban are determined to give people affected by leprosy the best possible care.

Surgeons carefully restore mobility to hands and feet disabled by leprosy. Physiotherapists help people regain their strength and independence. The Prosthetics and Orthotics team teach patients to walk again. Nurses gently dress ulcers, while the leadership team keep everything running smoothly. And in everything they do, they show people with leprosy that they matter.

• Give thanks for the team’s commitment to people affected by leprosy in every challenge.
• Pray that God will bless them with the skills and wisdom they need to care for and encourage their patients.
• Ask too that they will find strength in Jesus when their work is busy, and know His love ever more deeply each day.
