Pray for the persecuted Church
Abielle Hallas, The Leprosy Mission Great
For 150 years, prayer has been at the heart of what we do together at The Leprosy Mission. Every morning, we gather as a team to lift up supporters, our teams, and the communities we serve to the Lord.
Here in the UK, we can often take for granted that we’re free to worship, pray, and follow Jesus. Because across the world, many are denied this right. For many, just reading this blog could be risky, let alone going to church.
Globally, more than 380 million Christians face persecution because of their faith. And sadly, 8 of the 10 countries you support are on Open Door’s World Watchlist for persecution.
But despite this, our teams continue to be bold. Like you, they’re determined to answer Jesus’ call to heal people affected by leprosy.
Thank you for continuing to lift them up to the Lord. You give them strength each day, and we hope their courage inspires you in return!
So please join us to pray for our teams and for the persecuted church around the world this month.
- Praise God that His light is shining through our hospitals and community projects across the world. Give thanks for His faithfulness, and that your kindness continues to change lives!
- Ask that Jesus will bring comfort, hope, and justice to His people facing persecution. Pray especially that those affected by leprosy will know that they are not alone.
- Ask for wisdom and strength for Leprosy Mission teams across the world. In the face of hostility, may they keep their eyes firmly fixed on Jesus. Please pray especially for protection for those travelling where there is conflict.
- Give thanks for our inter-faith work. With your support, community leaders of all faiths are uniting to help end leprosy. Pray too that these partnerships can be a force for wider peace.
- Please pray too for those who persecute Christians across the world. May Jesus soften their hearts, bringing tolerance, respect, and peace.
Thank you for holding our sisters and brothers in Christ in prayer. Your faith is a precious encouragement for our teams, and for all those who need to know that Jesus is near them today.
