Do you want to be instrumental in ending one of the world’s most ancient diseases and transforming the lives of those who have been affected by it, across Asia and Africa? Are you passionate about international development, global health and disability? Do you have experience of developing and supporting the implementation of research programmes?
You will have a passion for research and how it can make transformational change to marginalised and vulnerable people.  You will have at least three years’ working in a research setting or in operational research in an international development context and a degree in either Global Health, Medicine, NTDs, disability or other relevant discipline.  You will be self-motivated with the capacity to work on your own initiative and will have excellent cross-cultural communication skills.

You will be required to travel overseas for approximately 10 weeks per year, to undertake capacity development training and mentor partner staff, enthuse and guide research steering committees, monitor programmes and provide advice and support to field partners.

The Leprosy Mission England and Wales (TLMEW) is a leading international Christian development organisation with over 140 years’ experience and is part of the TLM worldwide family. TLMEW is active in 10 countries and we have over 50 projects addressing the causes and consequences of leprosy, ranging from health and livelihoods to advocacy.   TLMEW has a zero tolerence approach to any harm to, or exploitation of, our beneficiaries, staff and communities we come into contact with.  Recruitment to roles within TLMEW includes, in particular, criminal record checks and the collection of relevant references.  A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences. Safeguarding is our top priority in everything we do. Empathy with the Christian ethos of the organisation is essential, as is an ability to work with all faiths.
