Praying in hope for climate justice
Abielle Hallas, The Leprosy Mission Great Britain
God’s call for us to care for our world is clear throughout scripture. Yet the devastating impacts of climate change and environmental destruction are never far from the headlines.
It can be hard to feel encouraged when it comes to the climate. But scripture gives us reasons to hope.
When you give them your breath, life is created, and you renew the face of the earth. (Psalm 104:30, NLT)
In Psalm 104, we read that God’s plan for renewal extends to all His creation – people and planet. And that plan includes you! Through your faithful prayers and action, God is moving through you to restore our broken world.
So please join us today to pray for climate action and justice.
Climate action
Global cooperation to combat the climate crisis has never been more important. Yet progress so often feels frustratingly slow.
- Please pray that world leaders will have the courage to move quickly to protect our planet, lives, and livelihoods.
- People affected by leprosy and those with disabilities are some of the most affected by climate change. Pray that their calls for justice will be heard, and that they will be at the heart of environmental action.

Climate disasters
Across the countries you support, natural disasters are shattering lives. Cyclones, foods, drought, and extreme heat are only becoming more frequent and destructive. Already living in poverty, people affected by leprosy are some of the hardest hit.
- Please pray that the Lord will protect people affected by leprosy facing climate disasters. Ask that He will comfort and strengthen them as they rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
- Pray too for our teams as they navigate the challenges of climate change. May Jesus give them wisdom and resilience as they serve Him and people affected by leprosy.

Climate resilience
Many people affected by leprosy across Africa and Asia rely on farming to survive. Crop failure is an ever-present threat. But with your support, communities are tackling this challenge head on.
- Give thanks that people affected by leprosy are escaping poverty through resilient agriculture in Mozambique and Sri Lanka. Ask that Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides, will continue to pour out his abundance over them.
- In Sri Lanka, people affected by leprosy are leading environmental action. From improving harvests and incomes to ending hunger, praise Jesus that they are changing lives! May they inspire others to also become good stewards of God’s incredible creation.
- Pray with us throughout the year Join us each month to pray for people affected by leprosy, our teams, and the world
