Pray for children affected by leprosy
Abielle Hallas, The Leprosy Mission Great Britain
Leprosy should be a thing of the past. Yet every year, thousands of the children are diagnosed with the disease. Many more are ‘hidden’, without the vital care and compassion they need.
Across Africa and Asia, leprosy is stealing children’s mobility, opportunities, friendships, and futures.
But this is a forgotten crisis. It doesn’t make the headlines. Young people affected by the disease are pushed into the shadows. But God sees them, and so do we.
And together, we boldly pray for an end to child leprosy, so every young person can thrive.

Pray for children affected by leprosy
Leprosy is curable. But across the world, a diagnosis still sparks fear for children and their families. Please pray:
- For every child who will hear they have leprosy this year. Ask that Jesus will draw close to them and ease their fears.
- That our teams will find and cure children with leprosy quickly through school screening and awareness camps.
- That each child with leprosy will get the cure, care, and compassion they need to heal and thrive.
Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Luke 18:16)

Pray against stigma
No child should face discrimination because of leprosy. But all too often, stigma means young people are rejected and isolated. Many are forced to leave school. This exclusion takes a heartbreaking emotional toll on their young lives.
As we challenge discrimination together, please pray:
- For an end to prejudice that leaves children lonely and scared. Ask that Jesus will surround them with His comfort and love.
- For the work you support to challenge myths and stigma surrounding leprosy. Pray that communities will be more welcoming, and friendships and opportunities restored.
Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. (Matthew 18:5)
