Pray for the work you support in India
Abielle Hallas, The Leprosy Mission Great Britain
The India we see in the news is booming financially. But the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing at a worrying rate. Millions live in desperate poverty, so it’s little surprise that over half of the world’s leprosy cases continue to be found in India.
The work you support in this country has never been more vital.
With so much need, sometimes it might feel that you can’t make a difference. But God hears your prayers and multiplies your generosity in amazing ways.
Your compassion is fuelling hospitals, encouraging weary teams, finding and curing people with leprosy before disability strikes, and showing the love of Jesus. You’re a blessing!
Please join us once more to pray for people in India.
Pray for communities affected by leprosy
In Odisha, communities affected by leprosy have been forgotten for decades. Families are living in unimaginable conditions, without the basics we take for granted.
But thanks to your prayers, hope is rising!

Give thanks that for the wonderful response to the Revive appeals last year! Because of this, together we are building safe houses, providing clean water, and helping communities to grow good food. Please continue to pray:
- For people affected by leprosy and disability who rely on begging to survive. Pray especially for protection for the elderly in the extreme heat which starts next month.
- That the Lord will bless leprosy colonies in Odisha and across India. Ask that He will pour out his provision as we kickstart sustainable change together.
- That people will break the chains of poverty and leprosy, and know life in all its fullness.
“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord, “because you are called an outcast” (Jeremiah 30:17)
Pray for our medical work
Despite the high rates of leprosy, specialist care is hard to find across India. Many people rely on Leprosy Mission hospitals for treatment. More than medical centres, these are vital sanctuaries of compassion and acceptance.

Please pray:
- For every patient who will come to a Leprosy Mission hospital this year. Many face long inpatient stays away from families; others will have faced heartbreaking rejection. Pray they will find healing, peace, and comfort, and know that they are loved.
- For all those serving in our hospitals, from surgeons and nurses to counsellors and physiotherapists. Ask for strength, wisdom, and grace as they walk alongside people with leprosy.
